The story of Sundin Builders is the story of your community.
In 1920, Bernard Albin Sundin, great-grandfather of company president Scott Sundin, began building starter homes in the Holden area. It was a different time, when quality workmanship was expected, no matter the price.
Bernard built his business on a 5-generation family tradition of quality Swedish craftsmanship. And he brought quality to his relationships with his customers. They were his neighbors, and he treated them with respect and friendship.
Our tradition of quality spans four generations.
We’ve never forgotten that we’re part of the community. And as we’ve grown into a builder of notable custom homes, we’ve held tightly to the practices Bernard started with:

- Hands-on involvement and superior attention to detail at every phase of construction.
Industry leaders, community leaders
Building homes has always been more than a livelihood for the Sundin family. As much as we care about craftsmanship of the first quality, we also care about our place in the community.
- Bernard Sundin’s Arrington Acres development in Holden received a Blue Ribbon Home Award from the Saturday Evening Post.
- Scott’s grandfather, Clark Sundin Sr., was the first president of the Master Homebuilders Association of Worcester County, serving from 1941 to 1942, from 1945 to 1946, from 1949 to 1950 and in 1955. In builders’ circles, he’s considered the “father” of the Association.
- His son (and Scott’s father) Clark Jr. brought the family business into the 70s, upholding the Sundin values of quality and craftsmanship as he built hundreds of homes in Holden and northern Worcester County. He was also Association president from 1973 to 1975.
- More recently, Scott worked with the town of Holden to develop a visionary retirement community that stands as a model of innovation in active retirement living.
Over more than 8 decades, Sundin Builders has earned the trust and respect of the people of Holden and neighboring communities, always working in partnership with them. Our family name carries our good reputation—and each day we strive to be worthy of it.
